Bengali polymath Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941 C.E.) used contextual modernism to transform Indian art and literature as well as Bengali music and literature. He was born in Kolkata, India, on May 7, 1861, in accordance with the English calendar, to Debendranath Tagore and Sarada Devi. He was born in 1422, on the 25th day of the month of Boishakh, according to the Bengali calendar.
